The purpose of this study was to know about job promotion of government employees in Fakfak Regency. This study used a qualitative research method. Respondents in this study were employees of the Mutation and Promotion Division of the Fakfak Regency Human Resources Development and Personnel Agency (BKPSDM) and employees who were promoted. Data collection techniques used direct observation methods, questionnaires, and interviews. Data analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The first research result was that job promotions based on work performance, discipline, and education were still not running well. The results of this study were due to the inconsistency between work performance assessments and job promotion decisions, Job promotions in Fakfak Regency were not always based on employee discipline levels, and there were still employee promotions not based on educational backgrounds that were in accordance with their positions. The next research result was that job promotions based on honesty and leadership could be said to be running well, because in the city of Fakfak honesty and leadership were still considered very important even though they were difficult to measure because they were subjective.
